Georgia Rides to the Capitol

Why?  To begin with, why not!?  To let our state legislature know that we are here.  To support the effort to get a “Three Foot Passing Law” enacted.  To try, for heaven’s sake, to get the gold dome types to recognize that streets are there for all kinds of users, motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians.  If more information on the purpose of this ride is desired, please go to Georgia Bikes! Website.  Here’s a link to the webpage for the Ride to the Capitol.

The local action:  For those of us in Peachtree City.  We will leave City Hall at 8:00, on Tuesday, 22 March.  But there’s more...

We realize there are some folks who would really like to be a part of this, but for one reason or another are not able to do the whole distance.  We’re planning a remote en route start point.  Maybe it’s business commitments.  Maybe it’s that a ride just doesn’t have the “stuff” to do the whole thing.  But..  We want you with us!

So there will be a rally point along the route.  You can drive, or be driven to that point.  When the main body of the ride gets to that point, we will stop briefly to assemble.  Then we’ll all proceed to the Capitol.

We’re still working out the details for this.  We’ll have information posted here, and elsewhere in the next 24 hours.  But in here’s the general idea.  The “Remote Rally Point” will be something like eight to ten miles from the Capitol.  The main body will stop there and pick up any riders who are waiting.  After the events at the Capitol, we’ll start riding back to Peachtree City.  But we will stop at the “Rally Point” to let riders depart from the ride.

Please watch this blog for details on the location and timing.

Thank you all!
