A Monday Catch-All

There’s a whole lot of shakin’ goin’ on!

Mid-Spring Seasonal Night Ride:
We’re doing the “cross-quarter” ride tonight.  This one falls in the middle of the Spring quarter.  It’s this time when the ancient Celts celebrated Beltane, or the beginning of Summer.  We’re just going for a good ride into the night to welcome the season.

The start finish venue is the Fredrick Brown Amphitheater, in Peachtree City.  Start is 7:30 P.M. (sharp!)

We’ll be moving at a brisk but comfortable pace, and we’ll be covering approximately 45 miles.

The ride goes rain or shine.  So dress appropriately.  Lights and reflective gear are mandatory.  (So are helmets!)  We’ll be leaving in daylight, but the majority of this one will be in the dark, so get your headlights charged!

Field Trip to the Dick Lane Velodrome!
This coming Saturday.  That’s 12 May.  The serious racing begins at 6:00 P.M.  We’re closing the shop at 5:00 P.M. to allow the staff time to get there.  We have a limited number of two for the price of one passes, so come by the shop and pick one up.

Oh yeah!  Some might want to know what’s going on.  This Saturday is the Keirin.  That’s a race where a motorcycle paces the racers for several laps, and then pulls off.  As soon as the motor is out of the way, it’s a 1 ½ lap sprint to the finish.  This is wildly exciting stuff.

The Audax 200K:
It’s going!  It’s less than two weeks away!  We’ll be doing this one on Sunday, 20 May.

Start finish will be at Bicycles Unlimited.

Start time is 7:30 A.M. (promptly!)

We’re going as a group.  The group will stay together in mutual support.  It’s 125 miles, over Pine Mountain, with lunch in the middle, and a good snack at the end.

There is a cost for this one.  Sadly I’m having to raise the price by a dollar.  So it will be $28 per person.  That covers lunch, water along the way, and the post ride snack.  Please get your money to me by the end of this week (cash or check only), and let me know that you are going!

Whew!  That’s a lot, and there’s more on the way!  Check back on Wednesday for a ride report on tonight’s Mid-Spring Celebration Night Ride.
